Meet the Makers, Melanie + Lindsay, owner of Kingdom & State.
We acquired Kingdom and State in July 2024 after it had gone dormant for a couple years prior. It was initially started by Tan France (a fashion designer on Netflix Queer Eye). Taking on swimwear was a natural fit for both of us as we love fashion and design but have struggled finding swimwear that fits our bodies just right. And since we both have the mindset that you can never succeed at something until you try, we took the jump.
Our collection features classic mix and match pieces with customizable straps and tie backs for the perfect fit. Sizing is from XS-3X so we truly have a suit and size for everyone. All suits are made from recycled fabrics and material.
Being two women that have unique body types and have always had a hard time finding swimwear that we love, we are always determined to design pieces that fit better and can fit everyone!
The best part of being a business owner is the opportunity to always keep learning and growing and to have the freedom to create and design without limitations. Bringing designs through concept to a final finished piece is our most loved process.
Knowing first hand what women want & need in swimwear helps us stay inspired & find inpsiration. Everything around us (colors, textures, nature) can be inspiring too. 
Our perfect customer: Women like ourselves who want beautiful pieces that they will be comfortable in and will last season after season without going out of style. All while being able having a productive impact on our environment.
We are moms who are trying to do it all. Between the two of us we have six kids (actually 11 if you count dogs and husbands). So not only are we running all parts of our business (we are the only employees as of now), we are also running our busy family lives as well.Favorite series: Shrinking on Apple TV

Best night out: (we prefer the night in) but if we have to go out, wake surfing at the lake is a close second.
